Canadian actress Ellen Page, 31, is angry at President Donald Trump’s administration for its stance against the members of the LGBTQ community.
The critically-acclaimed movie star recently appeared on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert where she took aim at Vice President Mike Pence for his many moves against LGBTQ people when he was Governor of Indiana and while at the White House.
Mr. Pence is against gay marriage and signed a law that many say made it possible to discriminate against LGBTQ persons.
The religious politician has also pushed for gay conversion therapy. Mrs. Page gave an emotional speech where she blamed Pence’s opposition to LGBTQ rights for the brutal attack against Empire star Jussie Smollett.
The My Days of Mercy actress began her plea by saying: “Sorry, I’m like really fired up tonight. But it feels impossible not to feel this way right now, with the president and the vice president, Mike Pence, who, like, wishes I couldn’t be married. Let’s just be clear: The vice president of America wishes I didn’t have the love with my wife. He wanted to ban that in Indiana, he believes in ‘conversion therapy,’ he has hurt LGBTQ people so badly as the [governor] of Indiana.”
She continued with: “Talking about it. The urgency is so severe, and yet we have a media that’s barely talking about it. We have a media that’s saying it’s a debate whether or not what just happened to Jussie Smollett is a hate crime. It’s absurd! This sh^t isn’t a debate.”
Page, who was on the nightly show to promote her new Netflix series, The Umbrella Academy, went on to slam the Republican politician and his anti-LGBTQ policies.
The Juno star explained that many people are getting hurt and even killed because of Trump and Pence’s anti-LGBTQ sentiment in government.
Page went on to share: “If you are in a position of power and you hate people, and you want to cause suffering to them, you go through the trouble, you spend your career trying to cause suffering, what do you think is going to happen? Kids are going to be abused, and they’re gonna kill themselves, and people are going to be beaten on the street…this needs to f–king stop.”

The Trump administration has taken a hard line against transgender people in recent months. However, their supporters argue for Republicans, they are friendlier to gays than most expected.
