Taylor Swift Accuses Scooter Braun Of Trying To Silence Her Post-Masters Feud

The New York Post says Taylor Swift isn’t happy about the latest batch of news related to her master recordings controversy. The pop star has been addressing new reports claiming that Scooter Braun had sold Swift’s master recordings in a deal that would be worth more than $300,000,000, which is what he paid for them.

Variety reported this week that Braun’s Ithaca Holdings sold the rights to her first 6 albums to an investment fund approximately 17 months after the controversy first began. Scooter was in the headlines nearly two years ago when it was revealed that he had purchased Swift’s master recordings through his acquisition of Big Machine Label Group, her former record label.

On her Twitter account, the singer-songwriter said she needed to write something in order to “clear things up.” Swift said on her social media that just “a few weeks ago” a group named Shamrock Holdings had told her that they had purchased her recordings from Scooter.

Swift went on to say it was the “second time” someone had purchased her music without her knowledge, adding that Braun had supposedly told the company not to tell her they had bought it.

According to Taylor, she says Braun’s team wanted her to sign a non-disclosure agreement in which she would guarantee that she would never say something bad about Scooter in the press ever again. She claimed the idea behind doing this was so that she wouldn’t be able to talk about the financial records at BMLG.

Taylor claimed it would “silence (her) forever” before she would even have a chance to bid on the rights to her music. Swift said such an NDA has never been presented “unless it was to silence an assault accuser by paying them off.”

As it was previously reported, Braun purchased the rights to her music back in June of 2019, and Swift took to her social media immediately to put him on blast, explaining how “grossed out” she was by the business tactic.

The star wrote in a Tumblr post at the time that she had been “stripped” of her life’s work.
